Common Ground – Grassroots Sport

The first story in our ongoing series, “Common Ground”, exploring the myriad ways Australians come together as communities.
This film tells the story of how one inner-west Sydney sports club – FC Five Dock – has, for 60 years, provided a focal point for an evolving, increasingly diverse community, continuing to draw families and individuals together around a common interest – football (AKA “soccer”).
It aims to pay tribute to the volunteers who trudge out, rain, hail or shine to organise, officiate, coach and sustain the participants – the value of their unpaid contribution not measured in dollars, but rather in the sense of community they so selflessly help to sustain.
Written, produced, directed, filmed and edited by Andrew Marsh.
